Bluetick Coonhound Dog Breed Temperament:
The Bluetick was bred to be a hunter and your Bluetick Coonhound puppy will show signs of this early on. They show high intelligence and area excellent works and are loyal and loving. Their training can be difficult particularly for low-activity individuals or families. They are excellent with children but probably aren’t best for households with cats or other small animals. Natural curiosity and scent tracking mean that they shouldn’t be left alone for long periods; garbage and food will be found and rooted out and restlessness can lead to household destruction. The main to thing to be aware in training is their natural howling bark. This is not something that will be able to be eliminated. Consistent training will let them know when it’s time to stop, but they will naturally use a bark or howl to greet and/or alert homeowners to any activity. Blueticks will naturally warble out a bark and sniff strangers; do not mistake this for aggressiveness , it’s simply a natural acknowledgement and “feeling out” method for the dog. They need to be allowed to be active. Keep all of this in mind with looking for Bluetick Coonhound puppies for sale.
