Weimaraner Dog Breed Temperament:
It is apparent from a young age that the Weimarener has almost unstoppable energy. It also calls for an owner that can provide adequate enough exercise to curb the Weimarener’s appetite. The Weimarener dog breed was always cherished for their physical endurance and stamina. You won’t find your Weimarener complaining about how long a walk is or how many more times are you gonna throw the ball. They will appreciate every morsel of attention you give them and still beg for more. To own a Weimarener, future owners need to have a high tolerance, firm (yet kind) hand during training, as this dog breed has a particular rambunctious streak for the first couple of years. Many Weimarener’s that are in rescue centers did not have owners that took the time to understand the demands of owning a Weimarener dog breed. They need to be trained, and given structure to prevent behavioral problems later in life.

Weimaraner Dog Breed Appearance:
The Weimaraner dog breed is graceful yet athletic in all that you see them do. Whether its dog agility or simply being a family pet, the Weimarener dog breed must sustain a balance that stays pleasing to the eye. The Weimaraner dog breed, no matter if it is a show dog or pet, they must uphold the standard working in the field. Asthetically, the Weimarener’s tail in the AKC breed standard should be docked to a third of its natural length at birth and dewclaws removed. The AKC is the only kennel club that still allows for this practice. Other kennel clubs around the world only allow dogs to compete in shows with full length tails. Weimaraner Dog Breed History and Origins:
The Weimaraner (VYE-ma-rah-ner) is a dog breed had an initial purpose to be a hunting dog during the early part of the 19th century. The wild game that Weimaraners were used to could be as large as boar, bears, deer. Large game hunting fell in popularity, that only changed the sized game Weimaraners would hunt. Hunters were more interested in an all purpose dog, than one that specifically pointed or flushed out the game. The name comes from the Grand Duke of Weimar, Karl August, whose court was known for having Weimaraner’s accompany them on hunting expeditions. Weimaraner Dog Breed Mortality:
The Weimaraner dog breed has a deep-chest cavity that gives them a higher probability to be affected by bloat or stomach gastric torsion. Both of these illnesses can have fatal results if left untreated. What ultimately happens in a case of bloat, the stomach twists pinching off blood vessels and paths of food traveling in or out. Modern day veterinary medicine can treat this through surgery, but is not a guarantee that such an occurrence won’t happen again and can be very expensive. Symptoms you should look for are signs of distress, discomfort, no bowel movement or sounds, and a swollen stomach.

Weimaraner Dog Breed Summary:
The physical needs of the Weimaraner is just the type of dog an active owner is looking for. The Weimaraner dog breed has such a fun and uplifting attitude they make even a rainy day feel like a sunny day. we have a lab and a weimaraner. Our lab was our first dog and we felt he needed a playmate that could keep up with his energy level. Anyone considering a weimer should know they need a lot of exercise and attention. They have more energy than labs! Our lab gets wore out daily by our weimer. So just an FYI these dogs should be considered only to people with active lifestyles as activity makes them the happiest. We can take our weimer hiking for 2 hours and she never slows down. No walk is long enough lol…

I have a weimaraner and they are adorable. i really encourage people to get these adorable dogs. Her name is Gracie. When ever i am on the computer, she starts clawing me cause she wants me to play with her. She really likes to play tug of war with all of her toys. Even though she isn’t a running dog she likes to chase balls. I can’t wait till she has puppies. AAAAAAAAAAA 10 Gracie’s in the house. I’m scared. lol.
